For the 8th Day of Blogmas
So today I’m going to share a bit about my life that I think is relatable for most students…
Stress.
I struggle with stress daily, and often feel overwhelmed most of the time. With school, friends, family, jobs, college, etc; peace is non-existent. Don’t forget about spiritual life either! We need to spend time with God, read our bible, pray, and all those building blocks of faith. It’s hard to balance all these things! Life is a very complicated “thing!”
Now honestly, I always hear people say with God, you should and will always be peaceful, but I never feel that peace. I’m only ever worrying about something, trying to think ahead, or something along those lines. So how am I supposed to feel the peace of God that everyone talks about???
That’s where we look to the Bible, the literal living word of God (which, by the way, is insanely crazy to think about. We’ll save that topic for another day). So for today’s blogmas I chose Philippians 4:7
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Although this is a very simple, straight forward verse, I feel as if it is the most applicable to my life right now. It’s junior year, I need to get good grades, study for SATs and such, and have to be responsible! (That last one can be pretty hard sometimes) But this verse tells me, tells all of us, that we don’t have to stress out until we explode, it tells us that we can have peace, and I think that peace comes when we ask God for it with an honest heart. Like for example, many times I’ll just realize I’m stressed, so I use God like a genie in a lamp. Which is the opposite of want our Father wants…
But anyway, the peace of God is something I have rarely experienced, so my proposal is this, can we, as a community, begin praying with a real and genuine attitude? This may not apply to everyone, but this is something I would like to know, can we as a community begin to be genuine about the way that we treat God our father? Can we begin praying more often and begin praying about ourselves less? Maybe the reason I (or maybe even you) are stressing out is because we are focusing too much on the negative or the “big” things happening in our lives? Maybe we need to focus on God, focus on others, anything other than ourselves to experience the peace of God! I hope this is something you think about during this stressful season, and I hope you experience the peace of God!!
As usual, I pray that this post blessed, inspired, and influenced you to be directed to God. Feel free to email us your thoughts as we would love to hear your feedback on how we have/have not fulfilled our goal for you!
Thanks for reading!
