Simply139's 12 Days of Christmas: BLOG Edition

HEY YALL!!! GUESS WHAT!!! THERE ARE 13 DAYS LEFT UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!šššššššš
In the spirit of Christmas, the five of us have decided to start a new tradition. We are calling it āSimply139ās 12 Days of Blogmasā. For the next 12 days, leading up to Christmas Eve, we are going to post 12 different bible verses (almost like an advent) and explain the significance of those bible verses. Our hope is that in the next 12 days we are able to bless you with our bible verse choices and help you grow closer to our Lord.
Todayās verse is Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirableāif anything is excellent or praiseworthyāthink about such things.
For me personally, I always thought that as long as I do what is ārightā, thinking about stuff that might be considered ābadā was fine! I mean I wasnāt outwardly sinning I was just thinking about it. And you may be reading this thinking āOmg, sheās thought about killing people! š³ā NOOOOOOOOOOO I have not. I think we tend to forget that lust and coveting are sins/ ābadā things too. Lust meaning desire and coveting meaning being jealous. I donāt outwardingly yearn for something but I tend to find myself thinking about it all the time. And then you see someone with that thing that you wanted and you get jealous! Weāre not made to do that! Whether we outwardly say it or keep in our heads. The bible states in Philippians 4:8 that we should be thinking about true things, noble things, right things, pure things, lovely things, and admirable things. You might be sitting there wondering āwell what are those things?ā. Those things are God and His Word. Paul (the author of this verse) is basically telling us to meditate on the bible and think about what the bible says. The bible is the only thing that is true, noble, right, pure, etc.
I encourage you that whenever you find yourself thinking about something that might not be pleasing to God, go to the bible. Read a passage. I assure you that if you spend enough time reading it and actually trying to understand it you will feel much better. When youāre mind is focused on what is right and Godly, your whole attitude changes and so does your behavior. We are called to fill ourselves with Godly things so that one day we will overflow with Godliness and be able to pour out onto others.
Our hope is that in the next 12 days our blog can be a way for you to hear about what is Godly. We hope that what we post will be true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. That you would be able to read what we have written and think about it and be blessed by it.
