9th Day of Blogmas
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is surviving the holiday season! As a student who is still in school, it's hard to believe that:
1. Christmas is in less than a week!
2. 2017 is in less than two weeks!
How crazy is that? Seriously. I doubt anyone will object that this year has been the very definition of hectic. But along with being hectic, its been riddled with tragedies, too. It's ridiculous to say that there are too many tragedies to count, but that appears to be the case this year. Terrorist attacks, shootings, international wars, and uncertain political futures in countries everywhere (Brexit, Syrian war, Trump administration) have overcast the everyday lives of people around the world. Sometimes, it's hard to believe that God has a plan and that He has something to say in all of this.
But, good news. He does have something to say.
8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 8)
God's ultimate message is a message of love. Even when Jesus was around, He preached love and acceptance. And that's what we should keep in mind throughout the madness. We, as Christians, are called to love everyone. We are not in the place to judge, and, if you all don't mind, I'll insert another verse that I try to remember everyday.
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? (James 4)
I want to propose a goal: just to end the year with love. It's what the world really needs right about now and, not coincidentally, is the same message Jesus spread in his day.
This post was on the more serious side, but I hope the meaning went through. There's no denying that every Christian has a weak moment, where times just seem too rough. But be comforted knowing that God really does have your back and that everything happens for a reason.
With love,
A
