The 6th day of BLOGMAS!!
It’s the 6th day of blogmas!! Wow, we’re already halfway through!! That's pretty crazy!! For today we’re going to be focusing on Micah 6:8.
8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
It seems like a pretty simple thing, but what does it really mean. The definition of justly is “according to what is morally right or fair”. Are we acting justly? Looking at my life, sometimes yes and sometimes no. It’s hard to decide what is fair! It might seem fair to you, but to someone else it could be something completely and utterly wrong! That’s where the Bible comes in! The Bible (at least for me) is a way to figure out what is right and what is wrong. It’s God’s word! And if we follow and believe God, His word is what is going to guide us in the right direction!
Love mercy….. WHOS MERCY AND WHY DO I HAVE TO LOVE HER??? (I’m so sorry that was such a terrible joke 😂😂) What I think this means is that we have to love mercifully. No matter what people throw our way, we must love them unconditionally! We have to love other with compassion, joy, and forgiveness. That’s easier said than done. It can be so hard to love people when all they throw your way is hate. Or when they’ve done something to you, that you think is unforgivable. It’s hard, I know, but that’s why we have Jesus. He takes what is hard and makes it easy! If our God could DIE for humankind, for all the people that hated him and did acts that were deemed unforgivable, then why can’t we love the same. And I know that that seems utterly impossible to some of us, but it’s not, because nothing is impossible for God! Lean unto Him when you're faced with situation, He will show you how to love.
And the last one, walk humbly. A lot of us are filled with pride, we see that we’re good at something and immediately believe that we are the best. That we are so awesome! We did it all by ourselves. The truth is we didn’t. We have never done anything “all by ourselves”, Jesus has been there every step of the way, guiding us. IT’S ALL HIM! That’s why we must be humble, because it is not by our will, but His. It says in the Bible that when we humble ourselves, God will lift us up. And also, no one likes a boaster. It’s the truth. I also feel like when we are humble, it gives us more room to look at others. When we stop looking at how great we are we can see how great others are and rejoice with them. But all in all, all the glory goes to God, because He created everything.
During this Christmas season I feel like it’s easier to do these three things, because everyone is for the most part happy and joyful. We’re all receiving presents and for some of us we spend a lot of time thinking about Jesus and what He’s done. So it’s easier, but what God wants us to do, is do these things when life gets tough. I encourage you to work on acting justly, loving mercifully, and walking humbly. If you’re having trouble with it, go to God! I promise you He will help.
Feel free to email us anytime, we’d love to talk to y’all!! Enjoy your day!! And remember to walk in love and keep doing you!!
