Artist Suggestion: Fall Edition

Hey y'all!! I’m back again with a fall related post (surprised??)🍁🍂

So today I thought I would share with you one of my favorite artists to listen to on a gray brisk fall day… So without further ado, here is my favorite fall artist suggestion!

The Lone Bellow is the name of the band, they are considered to be indie folk mixed with some alt-country, and I understand that may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but trust me, they are amazing. They do a lot of harmonizing and their voices blend together so well… Everything about the Lone Bellow screams a feeling of “walking on a gravel road shaded by big thick trees with your two black and white dogs by your side.” Don’t be judgin’ alright ?? Their music just gives off this nostalgic feel to it. Or as Billboard calls it… “Roosty.”

Some of their songs can be a bit abstract, such as Marietta, Tree to Grow, and Fake Roses, but it’s sometimes cool trying to figure out the meaning and taking time to just ponder on the lyrics. Other songs such as Diners (one of my favorites), Take My Love, and You Don’t Love Me Like You Used To, can be a little easier to understand. Basically the point I’m trying to make is that their lyrics are very poetic, and they have more than what meets the eye (or ear, in this case).

Anyway… More about the band, the Lone Bellow began as a way to cope with sadness. The lead singer, Zach Williams, was writing down his thoughts in a journal after his wife had a horseback riding incident (very indie/country), she suffered through temporary paralysis for a while. After his friends read his journal, they urged him to learn the guitar and turn in his journal entries into song lyrics.

So once his wife recovered, they moved to New York to follow his newfound passion for music. There he met with his old friend at a diner to talk about music, Brian Elmqiust, who plays guitar. And all by coincidence (or fate), Brian invited one of his friends who sang, to the diner as well. Her name is Kanene Pipkin… From then on, the trio was known as the Lone Bellow.

Hopefully you get and take the chance to their music to experience that “rootsy” feel that Billboard apparently felt (sarcasm, I’m sorry😂). In all seriousness though, I urge you to give them a listen on a brisk fall day. As usual I hope you enjoy this blog post, and I’ll see you soon!
